Prescription Payment Plan Information

I’ve been receiving questions about the new Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, an optional program set to begin in 2025. This plan allows beneficiaries with high prescription copays to distribute their out-of-pocket expenses throughout the year, rather than covering the entire amount upfront at the pharmacy. It is available to anyone enrolled in a Medicare drug plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan that includes drug coverage. While this plan doesn’t reduce copays, it helps manage them by allowing payment in monthly installments. Additionally, the $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket prescription costs in 2025 will apply to everyone, regardless of enrollment in the plan. Enrollment in this plan is especially beneficial for those facing high drug costs early in the year, providing more predictable and manageable monthly payments.
